As a rather rotund gentleman of a certain vintage, watching this unfold is a profound sight for sore eyes. My creative process generally involves me attempting to demonstrate a pose with all the elegance of a wardrobe falling down a flight of stairs, only for the dancer to miraculously translate my flailing into a line of breathtaking artistry. It is a daily marvel. (Though, upon quiet reflection, I am beginning to suspect that my decision to demonstrate these ideas while dressed in full tights and a tutu may have been a slightly unnecessary addition to the workflow.)

As it turns out, booking a photo studio for a full eight hours requires a modest degree of forward thinking and meticulous planning, two pillars of human competence that have remained, throughout my life, stubbornly elusive. For reasons I cannot quite fathom, my professional creative career has relied almost entirely on the belief that everything will simply be “alright on the night.” Remarkably, through some sort of cosmic oversight, it usually is.
